"DAWN"

On my easel this morning, "Dawn", acrylic on stretched canvas.

Still a way to go in the foreground, but I love the sky and treeline.

Next week, I am excited to be taking a three day workshop with Mike Rooney, http://mikerooneystudios.blogspot.com/, a wonderful artist whose easy, relaxed style is anything but easy.  At least for me, I always get caught up in the details.

I hope you have a wonderful day,
Cindy

"Fish Shack II"

Between grandchildren, a lawn run wild, and piled up laundry, I managed to squeeze in time to finish "Fish Shack II".  I have to say that it was challenging, and fun.  I have to say that it kept me awake at night.  I have to say that painting in a larger format requires more than just bigger brushes, (as someone recently told me).  For a control freak like me, there is a lot more opportunity to "fuss" with details.  It was hard to resist, but I did for the most part.  I admit to fussing with the tin roof, the trees, the water, the marsh, well, ok, most of it.  But I unfussed at the end, with larger, more lavish brush work.

Work Continues on Fish House II

AUGHHHH....I continue to work on "Fish House II"...and work, and work.  I keep rethinking bits and pieces, and I know that's not good.  Still, I know I can pull it all together and have a successful composition.

Here is the current iteration:
"Fish House II"
12" x 24" Acrylic on stretched canvas..

The area of concern is the small shack, and adjacent trees.  Fixable, I'm just going to take a break on it for today.  I am happy with the rest, especially the water and marsh in the foreground.

I'm hangin' it up for the day:

I always wash out my acrylic brushes with Dawn dish detergent, and hang them to dry.  I believe this preserves the shape, and extends the overall life.

Have a great day,

Cindy

On my easel

I am still putting a few finishing touches on a larger version of "Fish House".  I love it when a scene captures my imagination so completely.  I can see a car pulling up in front of this old shack, a family unloading shrimp nets and crabbing supplies, as well as a lantern, cook stove, cots, sleeping bags, and other modern day comforts.  Or, maybe it's me, with my easel, paint boxes, a cooler (of course), add in a generator, since I am no longer one for roughing it too much.  I do love all the peace and quiet you would find in a place like this, the beauty, sun rises and sun sets to capture, herons, egrets, fish jumping, opps, maybe a gator or two.

Home Again, Home Again...

We are home safe and sound.  The coach has been emptied and cleaned.  The house dusted, and restocked.  The windows are opened to a delicious breeze coming off the rice field.  We luxuriate in all the space, and slowly adjust ourselves to a new routine.  It's lovely here, and lovely to be here!

My studio is ready and waiting.....

Make this a wonderful day,

Sky Dancers

Florida, Florida, Florida.  What words fit the perfect description of this gulf coast drama queen?  It is just wild weather, wild colors, brilliant light, glowing reflections.  On a sunny day, it is the whole entire 64 pack of crayons.  On a rainy day, it is as dreary and ordinary as anywhere else.

It is almost time to return home, to a much missed family, and another kind of beauty.  I will miss being here, but I can hardly wait to see everyone again.

This latest painting is a work in process.  WAY to much time and effort put into it, and the effort part still shows.  I like my work to look easy, effortless, and my best pictures do.  This one....eech!  Anyway, I'm shameless, I'm posting it, unfinished.

Fun with Florida

Pushed myself to paint "fast"....here's the result.  Later, when I'm all recovered, I'll fix up the obvious ills.....it was fun to have fun with Florida.  This little house really exists, and is located on Anna Maria Island.  What a gorgeous and fun garden...
