Myakka Mombo Redux

Myakka Mombo
8" x 10", acrylic on canvas panel
If you visited my blog yesterday, using Internet Explorer as your browser, for some weird reason, you saw the above painting full of white lines and squiggles.  If you used Chrome as your browser, the photo looked normal.  No idea why.   I reshot and reloaded the photo, checked IE, everything looks ok today.  I do know that when I bought a new computer running Windows 8.1, and IE, I could no longer upload photos to my blog.  Searching on line for a solution, I found that several bloggers were having the same problem.  The solution was to use Chrome to blog, and it worked.  I am not a technology guru, the whys and wherefores are beyond me.  But, if you are having the same issues, you might try downloading Chrome to blog with.  You will still have IE, and can choose which browser to use before you go online.
Hope you have a great day,
Cindy

Myakka Mombo

Yesterday, the coast was fogged in, so we took a ride inland to Myakka River State Park.  The park is Florida's largest, and has a designated wild and scenic river running through it.  This painting was inspired by the view from the boat landing.  We came home with tons of good photos, lots of inspiration, and a few insect bites.

Clean Sweep

"Clean Sweep", 8" x 10", Acrylic on canvas board.

$100.00

I love how the dry, windblown sand makes a pattern against the darker, damp sand in this painting.  I was concerned that my camera wouldn't capture the effect, but it did.  This paining appears to be calm and serene, but a closer look will reveal the turbulence of the roiling waves.  I think there must have been a deep drop off, just where the breakers broke (sorry, folks, couldn't help myself with that iteration).

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

on my easel this morning....."Clean Sweep"

I started this one yesterday, worked on it today, and will finish up tomorrow!  I am not happy with the three waves in the left center, other than that, I love it!  I found cyan blue to be the perfect color for Florida skies.

Fish House

Beautiful day for a painting class.  This little painting was from a photo snapped near Jacksonville, Fl., We were lucky to get the shot at all, lots of traffic, and taken from a small bridge.....

On My Easel....

Painting in a motor home is not all that easy, worrying about paint spatters, and consuming more than my share of the space available are just two of the problems.  I do it anyway when it's too cold to move outside.  For anyone else in this situation, acrylics are perfect because they dry fast.  Also perfect is a tripod type floor easel so the limited flat topped surfaces aren't used and unavailable for others.  Another really good painting tool is a small fold away table to hold the water pot, palette, and brushes.  Here's my set up:

and here's what's on my easel this morning

Have a wonderful day,

New Tide

We've been in Florida a little over a week, and it's just now earning it's reputation as a winter hot spot.  Up until yesterday, we had lots of overcast, rainy cool days.  Today is perfection!

I've found three groups to paint with already, and here is my first effort.
