Thirty in Thirty

So, I found 26 really good, valid excuses not to paint daily, and complete Leslie Saeta's 30 in 30 challenge.

Some of the categories are:

I don't live in a bubble, other people NEED me (blame others).
It SNOWED here (blame the weather).
I got sick - (blame fate).
I have too much laundry to do (blame time).
I have a new computer, and don't know how to do things like on the old one (blame technology)
The dog/cat ate my brushes (we don't have a pet, but if we did, I would use this one).
THE TRUTH IS .....once the chain was broken, it was awfully hard to fix.  I skipped a day, and it became easy to not return to the studio.  When I did paint, I didn't post, I became extremely critical of my work, the challenge was on my mind daily, and it just wasn't a good feeling.  I learned about my motivation to paint:
>
It has to make me happy.  It's that simple.

MOM, SHE'S NOT PAINTING......

I didn't paint yesterday...I am spending this week at my sister's, she had surgery and needs a little help.  I did bring all my painting gear, and I do PLAN to paint, but we get to talking, there's that jigsaw puzzle, visits from friends and family, and well, all kinds of distractions.  I really love being with her.
Have a great day,
KEEP WARM!

DUDE!

I love it when I get in the zone, time stops, and I find myself smiling as I paint.  "DUDE!" is from a photo we took last winter at the Turtle Hospital, near Jupiter Beach, Florida.  This big guy was suffering from hyperthermia, caused by an unexpected cold front which hit near Maryland.  He had been transported in just the week before, and was already well on his way to recovery.

Icky, sickie wimpy wuss

OK, so yesterday, I really didn't feel good, I was, as the title to this post says, icky, sickie, wimpy wuss.....I slept, ate chicken noodle soup, moaned to my husband, and slept. Last night, finally, my cold symptoms abated, and I was determined not to skip a day in the 30 in 30 challenge, so I did a really small, really quick painting of the rice field in front of my house.

It isn't my proudest, but it is an honest effort to maintain the discipline of painting every day.

Good Morning World

It's early, it's raining, it's a little cold, my nose is running, my eyes are tearing, yuchhhhh, the dreaded beginnings of a cold.  I painted anyway this morning.  In fact, I am challenging myself to paint every day, and post the results on Leslie Saeta's web site, along with over 300 other artists.  She (Leslie) has been a real cheerleader for artists, hosting an on line radio talk show for us, offering up marketing ideas, just a go getter urging us not go getters to go get.  Here is a link to her web site:  http://lesliesaeta.blogspot.com .  You should go visit.  Be forewarned, though, once there, you will probably have trouble leaving.

This morning's effort:

Have a great day, but if it's just TOO MUCH, go back to bed!

The Canal Behind my House

Happy New Year, everybody!  Painting this morning, I felt kind of rusty, having not picked up a brush in almost two weeks.  This is the little canal that runs behind my house.  We have a rustic (read dilapidated) boat lift which holds a small jon boat over the tidal creek, and whenever we want to fish or ride, we just lower the boat.

Hope you have a wonderful day,
